House in April 2006
April 16, 2006
Took a few photos to document some of the improvements we've made in the five months that we've been home owners.

A view of the front of the house from the driveway. Along the right side of the sidewalk new plantings have replaced much of the lawn.

In the foreground, one of our new akebono cherry trees graces the strip between the sidewalk and street. In front of the picture window, the boxy photinia and yew are gone (chainsaw madness!), replaced with a medley of smaller and more interesting-shaped plantings.

The other cherry tree in the foreground of this photo. On the porch, Jill's hanging basket/golf ball is full of flowers.

The upstairs bathroom showing the white cabinets (repainted from faux oak), the metallic light fixture (repainted from a garish silver-gold combination), the metallic shower rod (repainted), and new shower curtain and rings.

Another view of the bathroom showing more of the red walls plus some of the new hardware.

The second bedroom, repainted a cheerful spring green.

Outside the window of the second bedroom, a vicious predator lurks on our new teak patio furniture.

We repainted the bigger bedroom a designer sage-y yellow.

Also, notice new curtain rods and curtains---here and throughout the house.

Looking out from the main bedroom, another view of the walls.

The office nook in the basement. Not much changed here--just the addition of our furniture.

The basement media room. Again, nothing much changed here except the addition of our bookshelves and other furniture.

Another view of the main part of the basement.

The garage, repainted white (our very first house project) and now a gear storage wonderland.

More gear storage fun.

The small atrium addition off the back of the kitchen showing off the sun from one of the skylights.

The south side of the kitchen, showing our addition of a butcher block to add much-needed counter space. The fridge moved down the wall to seal off the third entry door to the kitchen.

A view from the dining room showing both the kitchen and the living room. In the foreground wall, notice the new digital thermostat.

The view of the living room from the dining room.

The small dining room and a window on the backyard.

Another view of the dining room.

The view looking out of the windows in the front door.

The living room and front door. See our new couch and credenza, as well as the new shelves we hung.

Looking out the picture window in the living room.

A view of the living room.

Another view of the living room.

Looking down the hall toward the bedrooms, showing off our newly finished oak floors.

The hall from the living room to the bedrooms. Notice the new wireless doorbell (the white thing visible just beneath the door frame leading to the hall).

Looking out our living room window at the car and the cherry trees across the street.

The view from the living room on a rainy spring evening.

Another rain-obscured view of a cherry tree.

The view from the living room in sunny weather.

The most dangerous predator known to man.

Vicious!
