Scrambling Mary and Judy Peaks
June 17, 2007

This adventure actually starts on the south side of Mount Baker. Here's Eric and Andrew enjoying the fine Northwest weather at the trailhead of the climb. After slogging up in wet, viewless, slushy conditions, we finally decided to call it quits and head home. The next morning, Jill and I forced ourselves out of bed early and headed to sunnier pastures -- east again, to the Teanaway.

From the pass between Bill and Mary Peaks, Jill ascends the slope to Mary's ridge. (Peggy Goldman's "75 Scrambles" book gets this route description just laughably wrong. Bill is nowhere near where she says it is; and she makes several other descriptive errors that defy both logic, map-reading, and editorial oversight. Needless to say we were shocked -- shocked -- to find that book mistaken.)

Eric ascends toward the summit of Mary Peak.

The view looking back out to Mount Stuart and the Ingalls Creek drainage.

A look at Little Annapurna, which perches above the Enchantments.

Jill descends the slippery snow slopes from Judy Peak, our second easy summit of the day.

A way sign in Bean Creek Basin.
