Scrambling the Teanaway

June 2, 2007

The story is below...

tean_1:

A crossroads early in the hike. This is the sort of thing that Eric should pay more attention to.

tean_2:

Dawn makes her way up a steep dirt and rock slope. It's at about this point that they should have headed left, toward Ingalls Pass, instead of continuing to ascend in this direction up Longs Pass. Behind her is the Esmeralda Basin.

tean_3:

Dawn makes a traverse along snow slopes higher up on Longs Pass.

tean_4:

The view from just beneath Longs Pass, just seconds before Eric realizes definitively that they are in the wrong spot.

tean_5:

Up close and personal with Mount Stuart. This is the primary focus of the Longs Pass.

tean_6:

Eric set out for a consolation scramble, and bagged a nearby un-named peak instead. From the summit of the so-called Mt. 6,878, this is the view down Ingalls Creek that seperates the Teanaway Mountains from the much larger Stuart Range.

tean_7:

Also take from the sumit, this view shows Longs Pass (where Dawn was taking a nap) in just about the center of this photo.

tean_8:

Eric gets a self-portrait in front of Mount Stuart, but can't do it without grimacing.

tean_9:

Here's a look at Ingalls Peak (the right-hand summit) and South Ingalls (the left-hand summit and Eric's intended destination). Next time!

tean_11:

On the way back down, Dawn uses Eric's ice axe and seems to be enjoying the long slushy slide down a snow slope in 80 degree weather.
