Playa Grande

Jill and Dad on a very early morning canoe trip through the estuary just to the south of Playa Grande.

Brian and Hannah in their canoe.

A magpie -- can't recall the precise name -- at Hotel Bula Bula, just beside the estuary. We had our own annoying member of this species back at our apartments at Las Tortugas.

A Yellow-naped Parrot

Hannah is going to show us how boogie boarding is done.

Eric comes cruising in to the beach.

Brian watches as Jill catches a wave.

Sunset at Playa Grande

The upstairs room in Eric and Jill's apartment at Las Tortugas.

The view of the forest -- now crackling in the late dry season -- from the balcony at Eric and Jill's apartment.
'
And from the balcony, our resident troop of golden-mantled howler monkeys. Tough to get a good photo of these guys because they were only nearby in the half-light of early morning or late eveninng.

Jill relaxes on our balcony.

A Black-headed Vulture, ecountered on a walk from our apartment down to the edge of the estuary.

Our local iguana, Julio, who spent most of his time poolside.
